Ocean directory, bad energy policies
We’ll start with the ocean which is
where planet protectors may feel like heading after hearing about the energy
bill passed by Congress this week and awaiting signature from the evildoer
himself. David Helvarg, author of “The War Against The Greens” will join us to
talk about the release by Island Press of a “Blue Movement Directory”, a new ocean and coastal

This week-end on EcoTalk we’ll meet Patrice O’Neill whose film "The
Fire Next Time" is now showing on PBS . She tells the story of a small Montana town, Kalispell in Flathead Valley, divided by competing
interests; economic growth and environmental protection.
We’ll learn what
happens when a right wing radio host comes to town and enflames and distorts an
already tense situation by calling for the burning of green swastikas.

Is GE’s ecomagination for real?

As General Electric launches a media campaign about ecomagination Betsy asks Frank O’Donnell, of Clean Air Watch for his comments: GE claims it is committed to clean energy but that includes nuclear energy and lobbying for tax breaks for nuclear plants; they also refuse to clean up the Hudson river.
